The house is right near the no. 6/187/414 bus-stop, five minutes walk away from Warwick Avenue tube and opposite a post-box. It’s also a stone’s throw from an excellent corner shop that opens ‘til 11pm and one block away from a 24-hour convenience store and very good pub with a late-ish licence.
Maida Vale is very “villagey”, with lots of restaurants, cafes and pubs, including the famous “Warrington” gastro-pub, and several of them over-look the canal in “Little Venice” (Café Laville, The Waterway, Summerhouse, more The Bridge House over-looks the canal and is famous for the Canal Cafe Theatre comedy nights on Friday and Saturday. Around the corner from the house is a large park (“Paddington Recreation Ground” with quite a few tennis courts, and the area is peppered with little “mini parks”. There are churches of various denominations locally, some of which hold regular concerts.
The area is well-connected for central London and the West End, with the Bakerloo line and the no. 6 bus going down Edgware Road to Oxford Street (Selfridges, John Lewis + all the main chain-stores Piccadilly Circus, Charing Cross, The Strand Other busses are the 187, 414 (straight to the house) and 31, 328, 228, 36, 98, 16 (a few blocks down The area is dotted with supermarkets and convenience stores, including Tesco, Waitrose, The Co-Op, Marks and Spencer, and there is a post-office very near us. Paddington Station is a five-minute walk away and St. Pancras international (for Eurostar) is a short journey away.
